THE CARNEGIE PLAYERS ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR “OKLAHOMA!”

Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised to spend their new life together in a brand new                           state: O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A – OKLAHOMA!

This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will be presented by The Carnegie Players this summer.  Auditions for all roles will be May 18 and 19, 6:30 until 8:00 in the lecture hall of Rensselaer Central High School.  Under the direction of Karen Kelley Dugan, “Oklahoma!” will be produced on July 29, 30 and August 1.  All ages are needed for the production.

The cast includes 4 female and 5 male leads as well as a large ensemble with plenty of space for children.  Come be a part of this wonderful musical, and sing the songs we all have come to appreciate: “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’”, “Surry with a Fringe on Top”, “Farmer and Cowman” and of course, “O-K-L-A-H-O-MA”

If you are not quite the “on-stage” type but are interested in helping, we are always looking for help with set construction, costuming, make-up and hair styling, sound and lighting, stage hands and many other aspects of a show. We encourage you to come to auditions also and let us know what you are interested in. You don’t have to be a professional seamstress, construction worker or sound/ lighting engineer….so don’t be shy!

We do ask that if your child is involved with the production, that a parent or guardian be at each rehearsal that the child is required to be at.  We have many tasks or work areas that we can involve you with, if you do not desire to be an actor or actress on stage!
