Carnegie Announces Winter Show – Barefoot In The Park!

The Carnegie Players will be producing Neil Simon’s romantic comedy, BAREFOOT IN THE PARK, on March 2 and 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm at The First Presbyterian Church, 220 N. Cullen St., Rensselaer.

John Rahe will direct this well-loved comedy. John, the former Director of Theater at Saint Joseph’s College, teaches acting, directing and improvisation. He has been active as theater director for over 40 years on the Collegiate, Community and professional levels, and has directed over 100 plays and musicals. In addition, John has been a professional actor and has written several short plays and comedy sketches.

BAREFOOT IN THE PARK premiered on Broadway in 1963 and starred Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley. The play was made into a film in 1967, also starring Robert Redford, and Jane Fonda. On Broadway it was Neil Simon’s longest running non-musical play in Broadway history.

Corrie and Paul Bratter are a newlywed couple. For their first house, they live in an apartment on the top floor of a brownstone in New York City. During the course of four days, they learn to live together while facing the usual ups and downs. Corrie wants Paul to become more easy-going: for example, to run “barefoot in the park.”

You are invited to become a part of The Carnegie Player’s 25th season of community theater in Rensselaer. Walk barefoot with Carnegie in 2018!
