The Carnegie Players has lost a member of its family this week. Woody Slade passed away July 4 at his home in Flora. Today Heaven is welcoming a player that will soon be forming new Trivia teams. Woody has probably already begun researching questions for a Trivia Night contest.
Woody had been involved with The Carnegie Players most years from it’s start. Holding various offices on the board as a Member at Large, Secretary, Vice President and President, he was involved with helping to produce a show from set construction to publicity and costumes to clean-up. But Woody also enjoyed being an actor on stage. One will remember him as Mayor Shinn, Chief Sitting Bull, King Sextimus, Max Detweiler, Father Kelleher and Horace Vandergelder, to name just a few.
Woody, as Mayor Shinn (The Music Man), can now be heard repeating to each one he meets, “You watch your phraseology!” Woody, job well done good and faithful servant. Our community is better for the lives that you have touched.
Friends will be received at the First Christian Church of Rensselaer on Friday, July 8, 2016, from 1:00 to 7:00 P.M. CDT. Funeral services will be at The First Christian Church of Rensselaer Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. CDT.
Please remember Barbara and Mark and their family with your love, prayers and support at this time.
